Preparations

The preparation has been pretty easy so far.  We’ve made plane reservations, gotten travel visas, made hotel reservations, and so forth.  Now we’re leaving in a few days, and we’re dealing with details like clothing, prescriptions, books for the journey, purchasing a new camera, arranging for cat-sitting, and planning the sights we want to see.  Many of the arrangements involve sitting at the computer, to look at websites.

We’re looking forward to our second day in Sydney, when we’ll take a touristy trip that will go to the Blue Mountains, some small Australian towns, Australia’s “grand canyon,” the steepest railroad in the world, a wildlife preserve, and a boat ride on Sydney Harbor...all in one day!

When in Kathmandu, Melissa will be working with a doctor for two weeks, during which time I’ll probably hang around Kathmandu, checking out the sights and writing this blog.  We’ll have a couple days after Melissa’s done working during which we might be able to take a trip out to the countryside for a day or two to do some hiking.  For the trip, Melissa got a new haircut, and Chris got a new camera.
